Kath Walker
Kath absorbs nature and life wherever she goes, and finds that Art is her way of expressing her emotions and feelings. She enjoys being with people and is fascinated by communication and interaction with others. She loves animals and children and feels that adults can learn so much from them.
Her Art has led her through many life experiences and the School of Hard Knocks…! In recent years, Kath has experienced the pains of grief, the loss of someone close (to suicide); and the loss of her mum. She has disabilities and has navigated both physical and mental illness over the years.
Kath studied Art & Design at Bolton College from 2010-2012, after a challenging period of dealing with the treatment of breast cancer, in 2009. This course allowed her to explore and develop her interests in Art and she was proud to be awarded several Distinctions in her studies within the BTEC Level 3 National Diploma.
Joining Westhoughton Art Group after her course ended was also one of the best things she did. This group has helped her to study Watercolour and develop a love for it, and to be introduced to many artists and different media through workshops and demonstrations.
She is inspired by artists such as, Carl Jacobs-Watercolours, Marion Dutton-Oils, Alison C Board-multi-media, Matthew Palmer-Watercolours, Edward Foster-Oils, and many other contemporary artists/media.
Her current projects include being involved with Art Studio UK; United Artists and Stand Up Sisters Womens Empowerment Group: which are her support network for all things art related. Another recent project is leading a small group of people with lived experience of mental illness in her Art Group, Art4Wellness with the local mental health charity MHiST (Bolton). Here she enjoys sharing her knowledge and skills in Art with others.
